About the role
- Senior Java engineer building secure, scalable brokerage technology for TD Securities’ capital-markets clients. Developing full-stack solutions across Java, Spring Boot, React, APIs, and microservices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain scalable, resilient, secure Java full-stack applications
- Write clean, efficient, well-tested code and participate in peer code reviews
- Provide application maintenance and production support during testing, deployment, and post-production stabilization
- Follow secure coding standards and application security practices
- Identify and recommend development, automation, and testing tools
- Complete unit, integration, component, and regression testing
- Participate in scope assessment, risk analysis, impact assessment, and cost estimation
- Investigate incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve production issues
- Monitor service performance, manage configuration, support backups, validate authentication controls, and contribute to performance tuning
- Analyze business and technology requirements and research application and system solutions
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions with analysts, designers, and technology partners
- Provide technical input on scope, solution approach, estimates, timelines, risks, dependencies, and implementation
- Communicate technical decisions, project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and business partners
- Support operational requests, enhancements, break/fix implementations, and production support
- Collaborate with application support, infrastructure, QA, and business teams
- Drive continuous improvement in development practices, automation, testing, deployment, and maintainability
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Java 11 or later and Spring Boot
- Knowledge of core Java, object-oriented design principles, collections, concurrency, and modern development practices
- Solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling, query optimization, and SQL development
- Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and service-oriented integrations
- Strong experience with microservices architecture, including service decomposition, API contracts, resiliency, observability, and deployment considerations
- Hands-on experience with React and modern front-end development practices, including reusable components, state management, and back-end integration
- Experience as a Java Developer within a financial institution is considered an advantage
- Python experience is preferred
- Experience in Prime Brokerage, Securities Finance, or related capital markets domains is preferred
- Experience with Broadridge BPSA or similar brokerage processing platforms is a plus
