About the role

Senior Java Developer building distributed Java, Big Data, and risk systems for TD Securities’ capital-markets banking platform. Supporting trading-risk applications, APIs, pipelines, testing, and production operations.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the design, development, testing, and support of software solutions for Risk Analysts, Front Office Traders, and Senior Executives
Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and efficient applications on distributed computing platforms
Build, enhance, and support data processing pipelines, REST APIs, and web-based applications
Participate in software design, development, testing, and deployment
Perform unit testing and integration testing, and support user acceptance testing
Troubleshoot and resolve application and production issues under guidance from senior team members
Contribute to code reviews and follow coding standards and best practices
Support continuous integration and continuous delivery processes
Improve application performance, automation, and software quality
Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, architects, and global technology teams
Learn and adopt new technologies, frameworks, and engineering practices

5+ years of software development experience with Java/JEE and object-oriented programming
3+ years of experience with Big Data technologies such as Spark, Scala, Hadoop, or Hive
Experience developing data processing pipelines using Spark, Scala, or Python
Experience working with Cassandra or other NoSQL databases
Familiarity with relational databases and strong SQL skills
Experience building or consuming REST APIs
Working knowledge of Spring Boot and microservices architecture
Experience using Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Maven, or similar technologies
Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting
Understanding of software design principles, coding standards, and testing methodologies
Experience troubleshooting and resolving application issues
Knowledge of distributed systems and scalable application development is an asset
Good understanding of Agile software development methodologies
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative global team environment
Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality
Eagerness to learn financial services and capital markets domain knowledge
Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical discipline
