About the role
- Senior Java Developer building Java backend systems for Tecsys, a cloud software provider powering healthcare and distribution supply chains. Designing scalable microservices and mentoring engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy high-quality backend solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices
- Conduct code reviews and contribute to design discussions
- Support hands-on QA work and mentor other developers
- Translate complex business needs into scalable technical solutions with product and business stakeholders
- Integrate AI into delivered solutions and team workflows
- Mentor developers in AI-first approaches that accelerate delivery
- Evaluate and introduce emerging technologies where valuable
- Apply and promote best practices in performance, scalability, observability, and security
- Partner with DevOps and Operations to ensure software is production-ready and maintainable
- Participate in agile ceremonies and retrospectives
- Promote collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building Java-based backend systems in production environments
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Deep understanding of object-oriented design, microservices architecture, and RESTful services
- Strong experience with Spring Boot, Java 11+, and testing frameworks including JUnit and Mockito
- Solid foundation in RDBMS, preferably PostgreSQL; Oracle and SQL Server
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus
- Experience with Git, Maven, and modern IDEs including IntelliJ, Eclipse, and Visual Studio Code
- Experience incorporating AI tools such as Kiro and Claude into day-to-day development
- Ability to design and deliver scalable solutions in complex, distributed architectures
- Ability to mentor developers, collaborate with QA, participate in code reviews, and develop proofs of concept
- Strong business orientation and excellent communication skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
