Responsibilities

  • Frequently pitch compelling story ideas
  • Develop sources to break news and produce exclusive stories
  • Write clearly and on deadline
  • Work with colleagues across the department and wider newsroom to brainstorm story ideas and determine the best way to tell them
  • Think beyond standard storytelling formats
  • Participate in Globe subscriber events

Requirements

  • At least five years’ experience reporting for a news organization
  • Interest and experience covering politics
  • Ability to identify Alberta issues that will resonate beyond the province
  • Strong, versatile writing across hard news, human-interest features, and explanatory journalism
  • Solid news judgment with a track record of enterprise work
  • Comfort working in varied formats, including live blogs, newsletters, video, and audio
  • Cover letter with three links to previous work and a resume written by the applicant, not AI
