Responsibilities
- Lead a high-velocity Engineering team developing advanced data and AI tools
- Work with Engineers, Designers, Product Managers, Architects, and the Executive team to deliver high-quality products
- Set goals for the team and individual team members
- Understand and communicate the team’s mission and objectives
- Motivate the team and create a productive, enjoyable work environment
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders and the Product Manager’s team
- Establish feedback loops and provide immediate feedback
- Participate in performance reviews
- Facilitate technical discussions and frequent code reviews to maintain code quality
- Resolve technical and interpersonal discussions when necessary
- Ensure the team’s overall output quality
- Mentor team members and support personal and career growth
- Escalate systemic challenges and blockers to the manager
- Lead the team’s recruiting and hiring process
- Track progress, assess risks, coordinate delivery, and communicate mitigation plans
- Apply system-analysis techniques and consult users to determine functional specifications
- Complete onboarding and push code to production during the first month
- Lead the team from planning through delivery
- Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with teammates
- Build understanding of the team’s mission, constraints, and capabilities
- Develop cross-functional relationships and contribute engineering-wide improvements
- Lead delivery of at least one major product-wide feature within the first year
- Define yearly goals and objectives for the team
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience working with back-end, front-end technologies, and databases
- Solid grasp of object-oriented programming, PostgreSQL/Supabase databases, clean code, development, and automated testing methodologies
- 2+ years of previous experience leading an Engineering team
- Track record of delivering successful products as an engineer and engineering manager
- Experience managing small teams with high autonomy and low process overhead
- Ability to balance implementation time against performance, failure tolerance, security, and long-term maintenance
- Ability to evaluate technical architecture trade-offs in real time during design discussions
- Strong code review skills and ability to explain code-quality decisions
- Active, demonstrated experience as an AI-first engineer
- Experience using AI development tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor
- Genuine curiosity about LLMs and AI-assisted engineering
- Strong communication skills, including clear writing, direct feedback, and effective facilitation
- World-class individual contributor capabilities
- Experience with data labeling, video/audio media processing, or PDF manipulation is a plus
- Familiarity with LangGraph or LangChain is a plus
- Familiarity with Redis, Kafka, and caching and queueing technologies is a plus
- Familiarity with NextJS, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and GraphQL is a plus
- Experience designing and building AI Agents, MCP servers, and data classification components for training LLMs is a plus
- Experience with cloud-native infrastructure on GCP or AWS is a plus
