About the role

  • Enterprise sales executive building Toptal’s Consumer Products and Services account portfolio. Selling technology, marketing, consulting, and AI transformation solutions to major enterprises.

Responsibilities

  • Drive growth within Toptal’s Consumer Products and Services industry vertical
  • Identify, develop, and close enterprise opportunities addressing complex business challenges across technology, marketing, management consulting, and AI-enabled transformation
  • Build and own a targeted portfolio of enterprise accounts from the ground up
  • Acquire new logos, grow revenue, and deliver client outcomes
  • Prospect, pitch, negotiate, and close new opportunities with Sales Development Representatives
  • Define account strategy, create opportunities, develop pipeline, and plan multi-year growth
  • Lead solution development and deal execution with Industry GMs, Practice Leaders, Pre-Sales Solutions, and Delivery teams
  • Partner with Client Partners to expand strategic relationships and maximize account value
  • Shape industry solutions for consumer products and retail operating-model challenges
  • Maintain pipeline and account intelligence for forecasting and decision-making
  • Lead strategic conversations with prospective and existing clients using discretion and independent judgment
  • Build portfolio during the first 9–12 months and then pursue a $10M annualized gross sales target
  • Establish portfolio strategy and account plans with the CP&S General Manager
  • Meet clients, leverage industry networks, prospect target accounts, and align joint account strategies
  • Collaborate with Pre-Sales Solutions and Delivery teams to design engagements
  • Negotiate contracts, develop proposals, and close initial deals
  • Establish credibility with stakeholders through consultative engagement
  • Contribute to team rituals, best-practice sharing, and win/loss reviews
  • Expand buyer networks, deepen executive engagement, introduce additional capabilities, and displace incumbent providers
  • Execute measurable growth plans and advise clients on business priorities
  • Establish executive advocates and sponsors across the portfolio
  • Mentor new team members and share Toptal’s model and territory-growth practices
  • Report directly to the General Manager of the Consumer Products & Services industry vertical

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 7-10+ years of experience in professional services, ideally at a leading consulting firm
  • Strong foundation in enterprise account management and solution selling
  • Extensive consultative customer engagement and selling of service-oriented or outcome-based solutions
  • Experience in Consumer Products and Services, particularly Retail, CPG, Food, and Grocery
  • Demonstrated success building a book of business from the ground up through self-sourcing, prospecting, and developing new enterprise relationships
  • Proven track record managing a $5M+ annualized gross portfolio
  • Experience closing $250K–$1M+ complex, multi-phase enterprise deals
  • Experience with enterprise clients with $2B+ in annual revenue
  • Comfort engaging C-level executives on Consumer Products and Services trends
  • Understanding of industry challenges and trends, including AI-driven operating-model transformation
  • Ability to discuss Toptal’s technology, marketing, and management consulting capabilities
  • Exposure to hybrid talent models or alternative consulting delivery models
  • Ability to build and execute account plans and maintain a healthy pipeline
  • Success in collaborative prospecting, virtual and on-site sales calls, and multidisciplinary sales pursuits
  • Experience negotiating complex service agreements with procurement and legal departments
  • Ability to partner across multiple internal teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25–40% to client sites, conferences, and team events
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • High intellectual curiosity, grit, and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company and manage varied challenges, deadlines, and contacts
