About the role

  • Systems Integrator designing, developing and sustaining applications for Toronto Shelter and Support Services. Leading business analysis, UX, accessibility, testing and implementation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain business relationships with clients to assess their needs
  • Prepare project charters, statements of work and project plans
  • Identify project risks and prepare mitigation action plans
  • Lead teams in delivering projects and work packages
  • Coordinate with internal and external groups to accomplish deliverables
  • Prepare and present project status reports and variance explanations
  • Prepare findings and lessons learned from post-implementation reviews
  • Assess, analyze, evaluate and recommend process and policy alternatives
  • Redesign business principles, processes, policies and standards using best practices
  • Determine functional and business requirements and build client consensus using human-centred design
  • Ensure Accessibility by Design principles are followed
  • Prepare business plans, gap analyses, logical data models and design documents
  • Ensure designs meet City web design standards and privacy, security and accessibility legislation and corporate standards
  • Provide input to Data Management teams on business-requirements transformation
  • Recommend improvements to methodologies, processes, standards and policies
  • Assist staff in understanding business processes and logic
  • Develop test strategies, test cases and test scripts with staff
  • Lead implementation and rollout strategies and plans
  • Conduct deliverable walkthroughs to identify potential problems
  • Prepare client training materials and documentation
  • Develop and edit website content
  • Conduct training and design workshops
  • Collaborate with clients on go/no-go cutover decisions and rollouts
  • Provide expertise in analysis, design, programming and maintenance of computer application software

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Certification in UX (e.g. Google, Norman Neilson Group, recognized college program, etc.) or equivalent experience
  • Considerable experience creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes and mock-ups
  • Considerable experience working with business users to determine requirements, leading design workshops, gaining consensus, and presenting recommended design solutions
  • Extensive experience implementing Accessibility solutions
  • Considerable experience programming web-based applications
  • Proficient in HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap 3 / 4 / 5, and JavaScript
  • Proficient in Adobe XD and working with design libraries
  • Comfortable working with Figma, Sketch and Miro as required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, leadership, facilitation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Advanced time management and estimation capabilities; ability to perform multiple tasks and projects concurrently
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and ability to evaluate and recommend new technology in a complex technical environment
  • Ability to capture design decisions in user stories and test documents
  • Ability to elicit, drive and/or develop solution requirements and accurately identify root causes
  • Ability to develop technology standards, techniques and product specifications
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and independently
  • Ability to be on-call to support production systems
  • Ability to travel across various City of Toronto office locations as required
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including days, afternoons, nights and weekends, as required
