About the role
- Senior Full-Stack Engineer building Unity’s global advertising platform. Owning TypeScript services, React interfaces, data contracts, and Kubernetes operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate services in the TypeScript/NestJS platform across a large domain model
- Own APIs and data contracts used by downstream advertising systems
- Model entity data for scale and change through relational schema design, migrations, and schema evolution
- Design and build event-driven integrations with Kafka and Google Cloud Pub/Sub using transactional outbox and idempotent consumer patterns
- Build user-facing interfaces in React and TypeScript for publishers and advertisers
- Operate services on Kubernetes and own service-level objectives
- Drive observability and platform quality through distributed tracing, metrics, and testing frameworks
- Set service development standards, enforce them in design and code reviews, and mentor engineers
Requirements
- 6+ years building and operating production software, with depth in backend services and modern frontend
- Advanced TypeScript
- Experience with NestJS or a comparable modular Node backend framework using dependency injection and modules
- Strong data modelling and SQL skills, including schema design, migrations, and performance at scale
- API versioning judgment and experience safely changing data consumed by other teams
- Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar
- Understanding of delivery semantics, ordering, idempotency, and cross-system inconsistency
- Advanced React, including component design, state management, and performance in data-intensive interfaces
- Cloud-native operation of containerized services on Kubernetes
- Experience owning production systems, including deployment, scaling, monitoring, incident response, and on-call
- Strong focus on correctness, observability, long-term maintainability, testing, code review, and accessibility
- English sufficient for frequent professional verbal and written communication
- Optional: experience with Go, ads/attribution/billing/monetization systems, infrastructure as code, Terraform, service mesh, OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, design systems, configuration-driven UI frameworks, or cross-team technical alignment
