About the role

  • Business development specialist expanding University of Alberta cloud and advanced-compute partnerships. Building pipelines, converting clients, and growing regulated-industry adoption of AI infrastructure programs.

Responsibilities

  • Execute full-cycle lead generation and pipeline management for ISAIC, CAICV, and the Fast-Paced Innovation Program
  • Conduct discovery with target clients in data-regulated sectors and align needs with program pathways
  • Manage CRM updates and achieve growth, utilization, customer onboarding, and intake funnel targets
  • Identify and support partnerships with accelerators, incubators, industry associations, post-secondary institutions, and enterprise clients
  • Represent initiatives at sector events to drive referrals, co-marketing, and brand visibility
  • Gather market intelligence to support growth strategies
  • Communicate advanced compute concepts and evaluate prospect readiness for infrastructure access
  • Escalate complex technical, legal, or high-risk matters to internal subject-matter experts
  • Develop and refine market-facing collateral, pitch decks, digital content, and outreach campaigns
  • Support event planning and targeted campaigns
  • Track and report funnel metrics, conversion data, and account forecasts to leadership
  • Document sales playbooks and engagement workflows
  • Collaborate with technical, legal, and program teams to align market demand with operations

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 to 5 years of business development, partnership development, or account management experience within technology-focused organizations
  • Ability to discuss advanced compute infrastructure, including GPUs, data centers, cloud/on-prem environments, AI workloads, and data governance
  • Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into business value
  • Proven ability to manage a full-cycle business development pipeline from prospecting and discovery to pitch development and deal closing
  • Experience using CRMs such as Zoho or Odoo to track activity and forecasting
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and executive audiences
  • Sound commercial judgment to identify high-risk, legal, or procurement issues requiring manager escalation
  • Resume, Industry Reference Network, and Cover Letter required
  • Cover letter must address technical and business translation, pipeline and target execution, and regulated industry context
  • Access, Community, and Belonging Philosophy statement required, maximum one page
  • Position subject to applicable NASA collective agreement terms and conditions
