About the role

  • Educational technology coordinator leading online course technology for the University of Alberta's pharmacy programs. Supporting Canvas, multimedia learning tools, instructors, learners, and educational technology projects.

Responsibilities

  • Implement course development and educational technology requirements aligned with program priorities, timelines, and quality standards
  • Lead production, implementation, and continuous improvement of online courses and modules
  • Determine technical and instructional approaches, educational technologies, configurations, accessibility features, and testing/development approaches
  • Collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, project stakeholders, academic leads, instructional designers, and project managers
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and complete project requirements
  • Perform testing and quality assurance for SCORM and other relevant specifications
  • Create and maintain remotely proctored online exams and learner exam accommodations
  • Resolve technical and learner support requests involving Canvas, Google Apps, Articulate/Rise, and other online learning resources
  • Provide technology orientations and tutoring to learners and instructors
  • Support online sessions via Zoom or Google Meet
  • Develop tutorials, tip sheets, chatbot content, learner handbooks, and reference resources
  • Research, evaluate, test, select, implement, configure, and maintain educational technologies
  • Lead technology implementation strategies, including quality assurance, training, documentation, transition, and release
  • Monitor technology lifecycle, support, compatibility, and fitness for purpose; identify upgrades, replacements, or retirement
  • Support cross-functional project milestones and document project plans, decisions, risks, and action items
  • Work under the operational direction of the Manager of Post-Professional Programs in support of the University of Alberta's pharmacy education programs

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree preferred, preferably related to educational technology, education, information management, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working within a technology-enhanced learning environment, preferably at a postsecondary level
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Canvas and/or other learning management systems and content authoring and production tools
  • Aptitude and comfort with administrative technologies such as Google Suite and a variety of educational technologies
  • Experience with Articulate (Rise, Storyline, etc.), web design and/or other programming skills preferred
  • Superior client service orientation and communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate completion of tasks and objectives in a dynamic and demanding team setting
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to think creatively, strategize, problem-solve, prioritize, and execute under strict deadlines
