About the role
- Senior backend developer building revenue-context infrastructure for Vasco’s AI agents. Shipping secure backend services, metrics engines, and AI-native product capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship backend services behind Vasco's revenue context product
- Work on context, metrics, and plan engines powering AI agents
- Venture into fullstack or data engineering work based on abilities
- Build services that securely handle customer revenue data
- Shape solutions with product designers and engineers in the Shape Up process
- Own work from shaping through implementation to release
- Collaborate daily with product designers and GTM team members
- Contribute to AI-native product development and code generation with Claude Code, including coding harnesses
- Participate in incident response to maintain system reliability
- Report to the CTO as part of a small product design and engineering team
Requirements
- Experience building to solve customer problems
- Experience owning complex projects end to end, including scoping, sequencing, unblocking, and stakeholder alignment
- Experience designing, building, and operating production backend services end to end
- Experience using AI coding tools to ship real work
- Experience applying judgment in high-stakes situations
- Experience designing solutions that address root causes and prevent downstream issues
- Ability to turn loosely defined problems into buildable solutions
- Ability to communicate technical trade-offs as clear business impact
- Experience building data or context layers consumed by AI agents in production is a standout qualification
- Data engineering or DevOps range, including SQL, data modeling, pipelines, infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability, is a standout qualification
- Fullstack application experience is a standout qualification
- Experience with GCP, BigQuery, Node.js, TypeScript, or Terraform, or close equivalents
- Experience with semantic layers or BI tools such as Cube is a standout qualification
- Must be based in Montreal and legally authorized to work in Canada
- Must complete a background check before starting
