About the role
- Technical Lead building secure user and account management systems for Verily Health’s precision-health data platform. Leading backend and frontend development with Go, Java, React, TypeScript, and Terraform.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of secure user and account management systems within Workbench
- Collaborate with Product Management and cross-functional engineering teams to define and deliver high-impact features
- Develop scalable backend services and user interfaces using Go, Java, React, TypeScript, and Terraform
- Drive technical discussions, mentor engineers, and contribute to system architecture decisions
- Identify and implement improvements in reliability, performance, and user experience
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a full-stack or backend software engineer in an industry setting
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional environments
- Ability to work independently and produce clear, structured technical documentation
- Expertise in Golang and building scalable backend systems or APIs (preferred)
- Leadership experience in technical direction, mentoring, and system design (preferred)
- Familiarity with React and TypeScript (preferred)
- Cloud computing expertise with Google Cloud Platform or AWS (preferred)
- Passion for developing tools that empower scientists in computational biology and genomics research (preferred)
- Must not require employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in Canada
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
