About the role

  • Développeur principal concevant et intégrant des applications web pour la Ville de Montréal. Utilisation de Node.js, TypeScript, microservices, APIs et déploiements infonuagiques en environnement agile et DevOps.

Responsibilities

  • Use modern web development technologies such as Node.js and TypeScript
  • Integrate microservices and REST/JSON APIs in an agile environment using recent frameworks and advanced debugging tools, with a DevOps mindset
  • Automatically deploy applications to public or hybrid cloud environments, in PaaS and SaaS modes
  • Participate in the design and development of applications
  • Define the functional characteristics of user interfaces
  • Design and oversee comprehensive test plans for applications
  • Document results and analyses and identify needs for functional and non-functional testing
  • Provide Level 3 support for applications in production and ensure their performance
  • Serve as a technical expert within project teams, perform code reviews and mentor less-experienced developers
  • Develop, modify and manage the growth of applications, their components and integrations, and select appropriate technical options
  • Optimize application development and maintenance
  • Ensure component interoperability, functional integrity and overall system reliability

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic qualification in Computer Science, Business Administration or another relevant field
  • 4 years of experience related to the responsibilities of the position
  • Experience developing front-end and/or back-end applications
  • Experience with at least one front-end web framework (AngularJS, React.js, etc.) and/or back-end framework (.NET, Java or Node.js)
  • Object-oriented design
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and web technologies, notably TypeScript, JavaScript and Java
  • Source code management, continuous integration and automated unit testing
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), DevOps practices and the Agile approach
  • Familiarity with message queue and notification systems such as RabbitMQ
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases
  • Knowledge of open-source technologies
  • Experience with mapping libraries (MapBox, Maplibre, OpenLayers, Leaflet, etc.) is an asset
