Community Development Coordinator supporting Ontario student nutrition programs for VON Canada. Coordinating assessments, grants, training, volunteers, partnerships, reporting, and budgets.
Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for student nutrition programs
Work with schools to ensure smooth operation of student nutrition programs
Develop and enhance relationships with local partners and key stakeholders
Support managers and lead day-to-day program operations within VON policies and quality standards
Conduct formal program assessments and support local student nutrition programs
Coordinate the annual grant application process
Facilitate implementation of Ministry Program Guidelines and best-practice standards
Develop support strategies for programs not meeting quality standards
Develop and coordinate training workshops for staff and volunteers
Assist with securing additional funding and grant opportunities
Foster relationships with community partners
Assist with volunteer recruitment and recognition
Prepare and submit data and reports
Assess client service needs, monitor service delivery, and contribute to program development, evaluation, and promotion
Develop and implement program plans
Manage volunteers and staff, including orientation, training, and in-services
Engage regularly with clients and health partners
Act as primary support contact among clients, health professionals, community support, and internal teams
Track and report program-plan and team results
Maintain program budgets and support financial accountability
Prepare financial and statistical trend reports for VON, funders, and program analysis
Complete disaster and emergency drills
Plan and participate in multidisciplinary meetings
Follow VON quality, risk management, occupational health and safety, confidentiality, and privacy requirements
Collaborate with staff using a team-based service delivery approach
Communicate and follow up with clients, community partners, professionals, and internal staff
Requirements
Post Secondary Diploma in Health/Social Science discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications/education
2-3 years of related experience in community and health-based care
1-2 years of experience in program planning and evaluation is an asset
Experience in volunteer administration is an asset
Experience or understanding of the not-for-profit healthcare environment is an asset
Experience with non-profit coordination/management
Experience with fundraising and relationship building
Proven organization skills to meet priorities and deadlines
Public speaking and relationship building skills
High confidentiality and discretion
Knowledge of social and health care services network and community resources
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
Strong organizational, prioritization, multitasking, and deadline-management skills
Strong customer service skills
Problem-solving and adaptability
Proficiency in Windows OS and MS Office Suite
Attention to detail
Must have a personal vehicle, current driver's license, and proof of vehicle insurance
Current and original satisfactory Criminal Records Check required
Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required
Ability to speak French is an asset in French Designated areas
Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) if required
