About the role

  • Community Development Coordinator supporting VON Canada’s Ontario student nutrition programs. Coordinating assessments, grants, training, volunteers, partnerships, reporting, and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for student nutrition programs
  • Work with schools to ensure smooth operation of student nutrition programs
  • Develop and enhance relationships with local partnerships and key stakeholders
  • Support managers and coordinate day-to-day program operations
  • Conduct formal program assessments and support local programs
  • Coordinate the annual grant application process
  • Facilitate Ministry Program Guidelines and best-practice implementation
  • Develop support strategies for programs not meeting quality standards
  • Develop and coordinate training workshops for staff and volunteers
  • Assist with additional funding and grant opportunities
  • Foster relationships with stakeholders and community partners
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and recognition
  • Prepare and submit data and reports
  • Assess client service needs, monitor service delivery, and contribute to program development, evaluation, and promotion
  • Develop and implement program plans
  • Manage volunteers and staff, including orientation, training, and in-services
  • Engage regularly with clients and health partners
  • Provide primary support between clients, health professionals, community supports, and internal teams
  • Track and report program-plan and team results
  • Maintain program budgets and support financial accountability
  • Prepare financial and statistical trending reports for VON and funder obligations
  • Complete disaster and emergency drills
  • Plan and participate in multidisciplinary meetings
  • Follow VON quality, risk management, confidentiality, occupational health and safety, and incident-reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with staff in a team-based service-delivery approach

Requirements

  • Post Secondary Diploma in Health/Social Science discipline or equivalent combination of qualifications/education
  • 2-3 years of related experience in community and health-based care
  • 1-2 years of experience in program planning and evaluation is an asset
  • Experience in volunteer administration is an asset
  • Experience or understanding of the not-for-profit healthcare environment is an asset
  • Experience with non-profit coordination/management
  • Experience with fundraising and relationship building
  • Proven organization, public speaking, relationship building, communication, customer service, problem-solving, prioritization, and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of the social and health care services network and community resources
  • Proficiency in Windows OS and MS Office Suite programs
  • Must have a personal vehicle, current driver’s license, and proof of vehicle insurance
  • Current and original satisfactory Criminal Records Check required
  • Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required
  • French language ability is an asset in French Designated areas
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) if required
