About the role
- Software Developer II building CNN Digital Commerce web applications such as CNN Underscored. Developing customer-facing products and tooling for Warner Bros. Discovery’s commerce growth.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and deploy web applications such as CNN Underscored
- Create customer-facing products
- Develop testing artifacts
- Develop tooling to support the growth of the CNN Commerce vertical
- Test and learn newer technologies and concepts related to best practices and operational excellence
- Monitor code health, infrastructure health, and application performance
Requirements
- 4+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on application development
- Proficient in modern JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Express, and React/Vue/Angular
- Working knowledge of Postgres, Elasticsearch, and Redis
- Experience with Fastly, AWS, Serverless/SAM, CloudFormation, Docker, Jenkins, and Git
- Hands-on familiarity with both client and server technology
- Solid understanding of common software data structures and algorithms
- Previous involvement in building medium to large-scale, "mission critical", "high availability" production systems
- Demonstrable design skills and ability to clearly articulate difficult technical concepts and information
- Experience with strategies to monitor code health, infrastructure health and application performance
- Experience in e-commerce, affiliate platforms, and consumer media
- Experience working on Kanban/Scrum teams and project management tools
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- Experience in non-procedural programming or applying functional-style concepts professionally is a plus
- Two years of object-oriented JavaScript experience is a plus
