About the role
- IT Architect designing secure enterprise architectures for WCB Alberta’s technology modernization. Leading cloud, integration, cybersecurity, and emerging-technology initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Engage with business groups, understand business requirements, and design solution architectures
- Champion the use of an enterprise architecture framework and toolset
- Maintain awareness of emerging technology trends and evaluate opportunities
- Ensure solutions are designed with core cybersecurity principles
- Create and maintain reference architecture with standards and a governance model
- Participate in defining enterprise architecture standards and project documentation requirements
- Lead solution ideas toward project initiation
- Review and approve assigned application architecture and integration designs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, business leaders, and stakeholders to translate strategic goals into architectural designs
- Provide technical leadership in system architecture, design principles, software development methodologies, and information systems selection
- Explore and experiment with artificial intelligence and emerging technologies for future adoption
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as an IT Architect designing and implementing architectural solutions
- Strong knowledge of enterprise-level architecture frameworks and methodologies
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and their practical applications
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into technical solutions
- Relevant certifications or degrees in technology-related fields are a plus
- Programming experience in one or more languages and frameworks, including Python, C#, .NET, or JavaScript
- Experience with enterprise IT infrastructure, including server, storage, network, and systems management disciplines
- Experience with security protocols including TLS, SAML, OIDC, OAuth2, and WS-Security
- Knowledge of database technologies
- Knowledge of container technologies
- Experience with cloud services, including Microsoft Azure
- Post-secondary degree from a recognized university in Computing Science or equivalent experience
- Experience creating business cases for complex solutions and deploying them into production
- Technical leadership, project management, or people leadership experience
- Enterprise integration experience involving API Management, Event Management, and B2B Integration
- Successful candidates must reside in Alberta
- Ability to work in person from the Edmonton downtown or Calgary office as required
- Final candidates must undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment
