About the role

  • Community impact specialist measuring grants, volunteer programs, and partnerships. Advancing social and environmental outcomes for a British Columbia financial cooperative.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and measure community impact initiatives
  • Track, assess, and report on the effectiveness and impact of initiatives, partnerships, and the overall program
  • Coordinate and participate in grant application evaluations and recommend funding decisions
  • Implement the Community Impact assessment framework to measure social and environmental outcomes
  • Monitor trends, issues, best practices, industry reports, and research related to social responsibility and community development
  • Contribute to impact partnerships and align them with corporate goals
  • Promote participation in impact program initiatives and communicate engagement opportunities, partnerships, achievements, and success stories
  • Execute internal and external communication strategies for community impact initiatives
  • Manage the volunteer program, including group volunteer efforts and inquiries
  • Collaborate with Do Some Good (DSG), manage DSG relationships, integrate its platform, and align programs with sustainability goals
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment, training, and retention strategies
  • Support the Community Engagement/Investment Program and prepare reports for senior leadership
  • Support measurement, year-end reconciliation, and impact reporting
  • Identify and manage opportunities contributing to UNPRB targets with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain a reporting system tracking community engagement impact
  • Connect employees to partner work and share learning internally
  • Coordinate branch visits, prepare presentation materials, and manage communications with leaders
  • Build and maintain community partner relationships and participate in partner meetings
  • Participate in budget management, track budget performance, and identify cost savings and efficiency improvements

Requirements

  • 3-4 years’ experience in marketing, event management, social impact, or community relations roles
  • A 2-year post-secondary certificate or diploma in Corporate Social Responsibility, Communications, Marketing, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience with social giving platforms, digital donation software, and other technology solutions supporting grant writing, review, and partnership intake
  • Knowledge of corporate social responsibility, social purpose, social finance, and shared value creation
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the charitable sector, non-profit management, community giving programs, social impact best practices, and employee engagement
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and communicate complex social issues
  • Project management and planning skills
  • Relationship building and maintenance skills
  • Flexibility and initiative
  • Understanding of the Credit Union System
  • Solid understanding of budgeting and vendor/supplier management
  • Focused and concise written and verbal summaries
  • Effective questioning and listening skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Understanding of risk and risk ownership, including adherence to policies and procedures
  • Background check, including employment verification, credit check, and criminal record check, if considered for the role
