About the role

  • Wealth Planning Specialist advising high-value credit union members across Kamloops, Armstrong and Enderby branches. Reviewing portfolios, developing financial plans and referring members to appropriate wealth advisors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and comprehensive financial planning advice to high-value members within assigned credit union branches
  • Review members’ investment portfolios and provide recommendations aligned with their life-cycle needs
  • Determine which advisor should manage members’ ongoing financial needs and refer them to the appropriate SFA, WA or SWA using Wealth Continuum guidelines
  • Identify wealth and financial planning needs among existing, new and potential members
  • Consolidate external and internal assets to FWWM through comprehensive portfolio and financial planning offerings
  • Network with external business organizations, pursue relationships with potential members, and promote FWWM products and services through community initiatives and events
  • Provide complex financial planning advice on investment products and services to members with more than $100,000 in investible assets
  • Identify member needs and recommend appropriate investment vehicles or refer members to product specialists
  • Minimize member and FWWM risk by following ethical standards, Aviso policies and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain compliance with audit and risk management policies and procedures
  • Build relationships with branch employees and provide subject matter expertise or informal mentoring
  • Ensure member accounts are opened and transactions and purchases are completed accurately and on time
  • Maintain up-to-date member files with required documentation
  • Provide seamless handoff to the appropriate advisor who will manage the ongoing relationship

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Mutual Funds License required
  • CFP designation required
  • 6 years' experience in an investment/financial planning advisory sales position required
  • Familiarity with financial planning tools/software preferred
  • Proven superior knowledge of a wide range of investment products and services preferred
  • Proven networking and relationship-building skills
  • Superior sales abilities, including active listening, identifying business opportunities, influencing and negotiating to close sales
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to analyze financial statements
  • Proficiency in computer software programs, including Microsoft Office and web-based applications
  • Proficiency with planning software such as PlanPlus
  • Understanding of risk and risk ownership, demonstrated through adherence to policies and procedures
