About the role

  • Lead structural design teams and deliver 3D models and 2D drawings for Wood’s Canadian oil and gas, energy, and industrial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out structural design and drafting as part of a multi-discipline project team
  • Lead a team of structural designers, including task assignment, work prioritization, and schedule coordination
  • Produce complex 3D structural models using Advance Steel
  • Produce 2D structural drawings from reference 3D models using AutoCAD
  • Provide discipline-specific design and drafting services meeting project, client, statutory, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with project team members and other disciplines to support project execution
  • Participate in project meetings, model reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination activities
  • Coordinate work with Wood's workshare teams across multiple offices
  • Perform quality checks on 3D models and 2D drawings according to Wood QA/QC procedures
  • Prepare material take-offs and other design deliverables
  • Manage assigned work within project schedules and budgets
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to designers
  • Perform other discipline-related duties as requested by the Structural Lead

Requirements

  • Diploma in Structural Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years of structural design and drafting experience in the oil and gas, energy, or industrial sectors
  • Advanced experience with Autodesk Advance Steel, AVEVA E3D, Hexagon Smart3D, AutoCAD, and SmartSketch
  • Experience leading or coordinating structural design teams on multidisciplinary projects while maintaining individual design responsibilities
  • Experience developing complex 3D structural models and detailed structural drawings
  • Experience coordinating deliverables across multiple offices, workshare teams, and engineering disciplines
  • Experience performing drawing, model, and deliverable checks in accordance with quality management procedures
  • Strong understanding of structural steel detailing and industrial facility design practices
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting project schedule and budget commitments
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and developing less experienced designers is desirable
  • Experience with Wood or other engineering consulting organizations on multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM projects is desirable
  • Experience supporting structural design and drafting activities across multiple project offices or workshare locations is desirable
