About the role
- Junior Mechanical/Piping Designer supporting Wood’s mining and minerals engineering projects. Designing 2D/3D piping, mechanical equipment, HVAC, and infrastructure systems.
Responsibilities
- Provide layout support and design piping systems for lead and zinc plants and related infrastructure
- Design mechanical equipment, building services/HVAC, and piping
- Design and draft equipment and piping systems in 2D and 3D drawing environments
- Prepare engineering drawings from rough sketches or general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures
- Prepare mechanical drawings, diagrams, and/or models using CAD/CADD software
- Attend project meetings and discussions with clients and staff
- Develop and maintain positive and sustainable relationships with the team and clients
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team
Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MechTech) or Engineering Design & Drafting Technology (CAD/CAM) or equivalent diploma
- 1-3 years of experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and/or AVEVA E3D software
- Excellent knowledge of 3D design/drafting
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
- Current authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood
- Must live within reasonable commuting distance to the Trail, British Columbia office or be willing to relocate at own expense
- Additional assets include other mining and smelting experience, piping, materials handling and/or HVAC experience, underground mining experience, and construction experience
