About the role

  • Intermediate Piping Designer designing piping systems for potash and uranium plants at Wood, a global engineering and consulting company. Creating CAD models, interpreting P&IDs, and coordinating multidisciplinary mining projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical layout and design of piping systems for potash and uranium plants and related infrastructure
  • Prepare digital drawings, diagrams, and 3D models using CAD/CADD software
  • Prepare engineering drawings for piping from sketches or general engineering and design information
  • Perform layouts, design, and checking based on supplied basic data
  • Attend site inspections or walkdowns for measurements and information gathering
  • Interpret engineering standards, piping material specifications, P&IDs, and Line Lists
  • Attend project meetings and discussions with clients and staff
  • Develop and maintain positive, sustainable client relationships
  • Coordinate with other project team members
  • Work under the general supervision of a senior engineer/design supervisor
  • Mentor junior team members

Requirements

  • Diploma in Mechanical or Engineering Design & Drafting Technology
  • 5+ years of relevant industrial and/or mining design experience
  • Proven experience with AutoCAD, AutoPlant, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and/or AVEVA E3D
  • Excellent knowledge of 3D design/drafting
  • Ability to perform piping sizing and pipe design calculations and detailed equipment design, or experience with project controls, budgets and schedules in an engineering consulting environment
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
  • Additional assets: mining experience; mechanical, materials handling, and/or HVAC experience; underground mining experience; construction experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
