About the role

  • Study Manager leading budgets, schedules, teams and feasibility studies for Wood’s global mining and metals consulting business. Overseeing safe, timely delivery for major mining clients.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Study execution strategy
  • Manage, execute and deliver best-practice systems and processes for designated studies and consulting services
  • Manage preparation of designated study documents to ensure information quality and accuracy
  • Manage preliminary economic assessments and pre-feasibility studies for mining clients
  • Ensure project scope and services are delivered safely, cost-effectively, on time and to client expectations
  • Lead the project team on HSSE matters and ensure compliance with the project HSSE execution plan
  • Monitor and review administration, document control, project control, staff planning, engineering, supply chain management, CAPEX, OPEX, construction and pre-commissioning
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules and progress reports
  • Develop and manage project-specific change and risk management systems
  • Ensure permits, licenses and regulatory approvals are met and current
  • Organize and lead planning sessions, team-building workshops and project coordination meetings
  • Implement internal, client, risk, constructability and independent peer reviews

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Geology, Mining, Engineering or related field of study, from a recognized university
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the mining industry with significant experience in consulting and/or operations environment
  • Previous experience as a study manager, project manager, project engineer, engineering manager or lead on several mining projects/studies
  • Exceptional client relationship and internal team management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new, proprietary and innovative solutions to current processes
  • Strong leadership, solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for varying durations, including to remote locations
  • Specific knowledge and experience with lithium, gold, copper and other precious metals
  • Superior mining pre-feasibility and feasibility experience
