About the role
- Procurement Manager leading supplier strategy, purchasing operations, and team development for XNRGY Climate Systems’ sustainable custom air-handling manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Buyers and Senior Buyers located in Montreal
- Establish performance objectives, KPIs, and development plans for team members
- Foster accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning
- Ensure procurement processes and policies are consistently followed
- Oversee procurement activities for uninterrupted supply of direct and indirect materials
- Manage supplier relationships and ensure quality, delivery, cost, and service expectations are met
- Partner with Strategic Sourcing and Commodity Managers to implement sourcing strategies
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and commercial agreements
- Support supplier selection, qualification, and development
- Drive cost reduction and value engineering opportunities
- Ensure purchase orders are executed accurately and on time
- Monitor open orders, supplier commitments, and delivery schedules
- Lead escalations for material shortages, critical deliveries, and supplier performance issues
- Collaborate with Planning, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics teams
- Support inventory management initiatives balancing service levels and working capital
- Develop supplier scorecards and performance metrics
- Conduct regular business reviews with key suppliers
- Identify supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Drive corrective action plans for quality, delivery, and service issues
- Lead procurement process improvement and digital transformation initiatives
- Develop best practices, standard work, and performance reporting
- Use ERP and procurement tools to improve visibility, efficiency, and data accuracy
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, and ethical sourcing standards
- Maintain procurement documentation and purchasing records
- Support audits and adherence to internal controls
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of procurement or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing procurement or purchasing teams
- Experience supporting fast-paced manufacturing operations
- Proven track record in supplier management, negotiations, and procurement strategy execution
- Professional procurement certifications (SCMP, CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, MCIPS) are considered an asset
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Deep understanding of supply chain and procurement processes
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and procurement reporting tools
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Bilingual (French and English) is required to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and suppliers across North America and internationally
