About the role
- Senior Manager improving Build Operations for Zapier’s automation platform. Establishing operating rhythms, visibility, dependency routing, and AI-enabled workflows across engineering, product, and go-to-market teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Build Operations function for Zapier’s engineering and product teams
- Surface insight, accelerate delivery, and reduce operational drag
- Restore execution capacity on P0 workstreams blocking Finance and Build leadership
- Provide the operational layer needed to execute Build strategy and prioritized work
- Design and socialize Build’s operating model and extend it to go-to-market teams
- Build, own, and scale a connected visibility layer showing shipping status, overlapping work, and ownership risks
- Own dependency and primitive-ownership routing so cross-team requirements reach accountable owners
- Drive adoption through training, feedback loops, and continuous-improvement cycles
- Partner with Build and GTM leadership to identify adoption gaps, remove blockers, and secure resourcing
- Build durable relationships with senior Build leaders
- Secure headcount, stabilize the team, and support critical platforms
- Manage a team of four, including an L4 TPM, two operations individual contributors, and a contractor
- Document operational decisions and trade-offs and write proposals for senior alignment and resourcing
- Identify and implement AI-powered tools and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual overhead
Requirements
- Experience as the operational backbone of an engineering or product organization
- Experience running cross-functional programs spanning multiple teams or organizations
- Ability to translate technical or engineering concepts into language and frameworks usable by non-technical audiences
- Strong project and program management fundamentals, including project plans, milestones, dependency tracking, risk management, and change documentation
- Ability to influence across functions and drive alignment without relying on title
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and fast-paced change
- Experience securing senior-stakeholder buy-in and resourcing for under-scoped programs
- Familiarity with modern operations tools and willingness to learn new systems
- Experience embedding AI into team workflows and processes
