About the role

  • Quality assurance specialist maintaining Seaspan’s ISO 9001 quality systems. Coordinating audits, nonconformances, document control, supplier quality, and improvement initiatives on-site in North Vancouver.

Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance and improvement of the company’s quality management system (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards
  • Collaborate on audit schedules, documentation, and files to support auditors and capture external audits
  • Manage quality nonconformances and their process for VSY, including report coordination and follow-up with interested parties
  • Support documenting quality issues in the electronic system when necessary
  • Coordinate with QA specialists on supplier management, schedule review meetings, and coordinate with internal groups
  • Manage and maintain document control processes and systems for procedures, work instructions, and quality records
  • Train employees in quality practices, procedures, and policies
  • Monitor and report quality performance metrics to senior management and other groups
  • Coordinate administration of the management of change process
  • Support management of the Quality SharePoint page, file repository, and communications
  • Promote quality improvements within the team and other functions
  • Collaborate in internal audits
  • Perform other duties supporting QMS and QA teams as assigned

Requirements

  • Proven work experience in Quality Management Systems processes
  • Strong knowledge of quality methodologies and best practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Practical experience in quality assurance or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in business administration, quality management, quality assurance, operations management, quality auditing, organizational excellence, or related field
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify quality issues and recommend solutions for improvement
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure operations conform to quality standards and regulations
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments
  • Strong initiative, attitude, and innovation to drive process improvement
  • Practical knowledge of quality standards
  • Customer service skills and understanding of internal customers’ needs and expectations
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize duties, and ensure timely completion of quality assurance projects
  • Ability to understand how to tailor quality to the company and culture
