About the role
- Lead Software Engineer / Software Development Manager needed for hybrid role in Toronto. Hands-on technical leadership with Java, Spring Boot, and Angular/React.
Responsibilities
- Approximately 30–50% hands-on technical work and 50–70% leadership, release coordination, investigations, mentorship, and delivery oversight. You will help lead a team of approximately 8–9 developers, QA professionals, contractors, and offshore resources supporting high-volume Capital Markets applications.
Requirements
- 5+ years of enterprise application development experience • Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot backend development experience • Angular preferred; React experience is also acceptable • Experience designing and building interconnected microservices and distributed systems • Strong production support, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigation skills • Practical SQL and relational database experience, including Oracle or similar technologies • Ability to trace data across systems and determine where a data flow or integration has failed • Experience supporting high-volume or near real-time processing environments • Linux/Unix exposure and enterprise scripting experience • Experience leading, mentoring, and providing technical direction to development teams • Experience with code reviews, design discussions, release coordination, Agile ceremonies, and delivery oversight • Strong understanding of system design, scalability, design patterns, and software engineering best practices • Clear, concise, and confident communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
