About the role
- LCBO seeks Legal Counsel / Senior Counsel (IT) to provide strategic legal support, focusing on IT contracts, data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI.
Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial and technology agreements (SaaS, software licensing, support, master services); advising on data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI; supporting IT and Procurement on RFPs, RFQs, supplier negotiations, contractual interpretation, and risk mitigation; providing legal guidance across Marketing, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Corporate Affairs; identifying legal risks and developing strategic solutions.
Requirements
- LL.B. or J.D. degree; member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario; 4+ years of post-call experience at a leading law firm and/or large in-house legal department; strong commercial contracting experience supporting IT and business stakeholders; excellent relationship-building, communication, and problem-solving skills. Assets: experience in regulated industry/public sector; knowledge of beverage alcohol regulations, FIPPA, cybersecurity, privacy, AI-related legal issues; strong business acumen.
