About the role

  • Senior Cyber Security & Privacy Architect needed for a 12-month contract in Toronto to tailor a cyber security and privacy framework for Ontario's education sector.

Responsibilities

  • Map and adapt world-class frameworks (NIST CSF v2, CIS Controls v8, COBIT, ISO 27001) to create a tailored cyber resilience blueprint for Ontario school boards. Develop concrete standards, guidelines, and playbooks addressing cyber security, online safety, and privacy protections for the K-12 ecosystem. Seamlessly integrate modern governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) structures with next-gen solutions like SecOps automation, AI, and Machine Learning. Collaborate closely with high-level government divisions (including the Ontario Cyber Security Division) and diverse public sector stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 10+ Years of Mastery: Deep experience in mapping cyber frameworks, integrating risk governance/change management, and developing enterprise security and online privacy policies. Public Sector / K-12 Expertise: Strong background working within large public sector environments (OPS/BPS). Familiarity with Ontario IT Standards (GO-ITS 25.x), MFIPPA, and the Education Act is highly preferred. Mandatory Certification: Must hold an active CISSP or CISM. (Bonus points for CIPP, CISA, or CASP+). Communication Champions: Proven track record of drafting executive-level briefings and delivering presentations to senior leadership and technical/non-technical audiences alike.
