Technical specialist supporting OEM and distributor design of ABB medium-voltage grid components. Reviewing applications, resolving escalations, and shaping Canadian go-to-market strategy.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day design support and application engineering guidance to OEM, Distributor, and other Channel customers specifying ELDS Grid Components.
Review customer schematics, layouts, and BOMs for correct grid component selection, application, and derating.
Develop application notes, reference designs, and training materials to accelerate customer design cycles and increase design-win rates.
Manage and resolve technical escalations, coordinating across R&D, Quality, and Product Management.
Track design-in opportunities from customer engagement through production qualification and maintain CRM pipeline visibility.
Collect and provide market and competitor intelligence to inform product roadmap and marketing strategy decisions.
Monitor market trends and recommend improvements to marketing strategy and plans.
Deliver product training and workshops to Distributor partners and OEM engineering teams.
Drive continuous improvement on Net Promoter Score (NPS) by acting on customer feedback.
Serve as the primary technical bridge between ABB ELDS Grid Components and OEM, Distributor, and other Channel customers.
Leverage product marketing knowledge to shape go-to-market strategy and promote ABB Grid Components as the preferred solution across target design segments.
Requirements
Highly skilled in Medium Voltage Switchgear and Medium Voltage Apparatus, including breakers, breaker enclosures, load break switches, instrument transformers, grounding switches, disconnect switches, sensors, short circuit limiting devices, arc mitigation devices, and protection relays.
Experience applying medium-voltage components in OEM and industrial switchgear design; medium voltage is required.
Approximately 10–15 years of experience in a Field Application Engineering, Technical Sales, or Product Marketing Specialist role within the electrical distribution components industry.
Demonstrated experience supporting OEM or Distributor customers through the full design cycle, from component selection and design review to production qualification.
Strong knowledge of design tools, electrical simulation software, power and short circuit analysis software, and component selection methodologies used in OEM product development.
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Ability to present and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
Able to travel up to 50% of the time, mostly within Central/Eastern Canada.
Current Professional Engineer designation (PEng.) required.
Able to travel to the US, Europe, and Asia when required.
