About the role
- Machine Operator cutting and bending plastic pipes at IPEX’s Mississauga manufacturing plant. Operating saws, bending machines and packaging equipment while performing quality and safety checks.
Responsibilities
- Plan and layout work assignments and accomplish with maximum efficiency.
- Operate cutting saws and set up and operate automatic and manual pipe bending machines.
- Control regrind, including proper sorting of regrind materials.
- Operate strapping equipment and air nailers.
- Pack products according to packaging specifications.
- Perform operator quality inspection checks.
- Maintain housekeeping around the area and machines, including 5’s.
- Perform necessary administrative functions related to the position.
- Function in other capacities as directed by the supervisor.
- Follow plant health, safety, environmental and quality policies.
- Perform other assigned tasks.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a strong asset.
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety practices is necessary.
- Basic math skills including geometry and fractions.
- Able to solve sophisticated problems using sound problem solving techniques and good judgment based on previous practices and precedence.
- Ability to multitask, pay close attention to detail, and adhere to instructions diligently.
- Flexible to work 12-hour continental shift schedule (7 days bi-weekly).
- Ability to perform considerable physical labour, including lifting, pulling, pushing heavy objects, standing and walking.
- Ability to work safely around heat, dust, noise, sharp blades, presses and other equipment.
