About the role
- Maintenance Supervisor leading mechanics and plant reliability at Canplas, a manufacturer of plastic plumbing and ventilation products. Driving preventive maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Oversee maintenance of all machinery and systems according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards
- Plan, schedule, and execute preventive maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures to maximize production uptime and operational efficiency
- Supervise, train, coach, and mentor Maintenance Mechanics
- Assign work, monitor performance, and support employee development
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and talent retention initiatives
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental policies, including permit systems and safe work practices
- Conduct incident investigations, safety inspections, and risk assessments
- Lead 5S initiatives and support continuous improvement efforts that enhance efficiency, quality, and workplace safety
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, and HSE teams to improve equipment reliability, enhance safety, and support continuous improvement across the operation
Requirements
- College diploma, university degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Electrician License (309A, 442A, or Red Seal), Millwright License (433A or Red Seal), or equivalent industrial maintenance qualification
- Experience leading maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, PLC troubleshooting, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
- Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS) and maintenance planning tools
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety
- Preferred: Experience in plastics, PVC, extrusion, injection molding, packaging, or related manufacturing environments
- Preferred: Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Preferred: Experience working within ISO or quality management systems
