About the role
- Engineering Clerk supporting AltaLink’s electricity transmission projects in Alberta. Providing technical administration, asset data coordination, document control, compliance, procurement, and protection-setting support.
Responsibilities
- Research and understand AltaLink’s asset data and compliance requirements for Substations, P&C, SCADA, Telecommunications, and Transmission Lines
- Complete technical forms and checklists to support project engineering teams
- Assist engineers with concurrent engineering agreements and coordinate the concurrency process
- Create and maintain functional location structures and equipment records; collect, validate and clarify technical information
- Support Inventory Control Form, Master Characteristics List, Alberta Reliability Standards compliance and return data processes
- Collect equipment-related information, compile and save data, and capture project reporting details
- Collaborate with document controllers and draftspersons to request drawing numbers and Bentley ProjectWise placeholders
- Support return data collection and resolve associated issues
- Administer engineering products, including audit deliverables, quality control and governance
- Verify protection setting requests and create cost and schedule estimates
- Create protection setting records in Enoserv Powerbase, assign relay numbers and create project templates
- Coordinate engineering services contractors and track documents and project costs
- Coordinate with material requisition administrators and procurement to support material ordering
- Participate in developing compliance processes and documents and improving department efficiency
- Demonstrate behaviors aligned with AltaLink’s cultural pillars
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years related experience
- Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a post-secondary course in basic electrical theory or equivalent course
- Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities
- Technically oriented with an understanding of electric transmission system operations and maintenance
- Experience working in a project engineering environment and knowledge of engineering terminology
- Experience reading and classifying engineering drawings and documentation is an asset
- Experience in auditing and compliance and knowledge of AESO ARS and ISO rules would be an asset
- Advanced ability to use Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in the use of SharePoint and SAP, or equivalent software and databases
- Familiarity with Bentley ProjectWise, Microstation, and Enoserv Powerbase software applications considered an asset
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Proactive, results focused approach with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work as a team member and as an individual contributor
- Ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines and with minimal supervision
- Ability to learn and function effectively in various software environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with process development is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers
- Proven track record of good performance and attendance
