About the role
- Product Designer shaping prototypes and design systems for AltaML’s enterprise AI products. Partnering with clients, users, product managers, and engineers to drive adoption.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the designer on a product team alongside a product manager and tech lead
- Own usability risk and ensure users can understand, use, and want the products
- Participate in discovery sessions with clients and end users
- Translate user feedback into rapid prototypes
- Test prototypes with users, observe outcomes, and iterate
- Design within and improve the shared design system and standards
- Identify effective design patterns and contribute them to the shared system
- Flag and help correct standards that fail users
- Provide user findings to validate and improve design standards used by AI coding tools
- Design new AI products that improve customers’ lives and drive adoption
Requirements
- Portfolio with shipped software products and ability to discuss user behavior and product outcomes
- Proficiency with Figma and AI-assisted design tools
- Ability to create working prototypes quickly and iterate based on user testing
- Desire and ability to participate in user discovery sessions
- Ability to work effectively with engineers and users
- Accessibility-focused design expertise
- Ability to create traction in a fast and sometimes messy environment
- Experience designing for government and public sector clients is implied by the accessibility requirement
