About the role
- Principal Agentic Engineer architecting AI-native customer-experience systems for APPLY, an agentic CX partner for global consumer and entertainment brands. Leading full-stack architecture, coding-agent delivery, cloud platforms, and AI-powered applications.
Responsibilities
- Envision and architect end-to-end solutions for complex, enterprise-scale projects across frontend, backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
- Provide technical direction across the full stack and align solutions with business objectives
- Design and implement scalable, secure, maintainable, API-first, cloud-native, and composable systems
- Own technical decisions covering UI architecture, service design, data modelling, and infrastructure configuration
- Translate backlog requirements into spec-driven requirements for autonomous coding agents
- Synthesize user stories, site maps, content strategy, design systems, and brand strategy into development specifications
- Architect solutions integrating LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, and agent orchestration frameworks
- Integrate AI-powered APIs, LLM-driven features, RAG experiences, and AI-assisted developer workflows
- Design microservices, APIs, composable architectures, backend services, data pipelines, and integrations
- Implement design systems, content models, component libraries, and supporting backend services
- Ensure performance, observability, caching, and data integrity across system layers
- Use containerization, orchestration, serverless patterns, and infrastructure-as-code where appropriate
- Shape engineering culture and standards across teams and practices
- Mentor engineers on architecture, spec-driven development, AI-assisted workflows, and engineering craft
- Collaborate with Technology Directors, Engineering Managers, Product, UX, project managers, clients, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Manage delivery risks, timelines, and expectations with project managers and clients
- Communicate complex technical and AI concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Participate in short FDAIC engagements to identify client growth opportunities while delivering near-term goals
Requirements
- 10+ years of full-stack software engineering experience with Staff or Lead-level technical leadership
- Proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript
- Hands-on experience with React, Next.js, and Node.js or similar runtimes
- Ability to design, build, and maintain RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs and backend services
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, schema design, query optimization, and data modelling
- Deep understanding of API design, microservices, cloud-native architectures, and MACH/headless composable systems
- Extensive cloud-platform experience; GCP preferred, AWS or Azure valued
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless computing
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD workflows, and production deployment practices
- Strong system-design fundamentals covering API contracts, data flow, caching, authentication, and performance optimization
- Hands-on production experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot
- Strong prompt-engineering skills and ability to write agent specifications
- Demonstrated real-world application-development experience with LLMs such as Claude Opus, Gemini, or GPT-4/5
- Experience with vector stores and RAG-powered applications
- Experience with Agent Development Kits such as Google ADK or similar orchestration frameworks
- Familiarity with Vertex AI, Google Gen AI APIs, or equivalent tooling
- Genuine curiosity and passion for Generative AI
- Track record leading complex enterprise-scale software projects with high autonomy
- Ability to mentor engineers, resolve technical conflicts, and drive alignment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strategic problem-solving ability and comfort translating ambiguous goals into technical direction
- Experience working effectively in fully remote, distributed teams
- Background in consultancy or professional services strongly preferred
