Major Project Director leading complex, high-risk defence projects and portfolios for Arcadis, a sustainable design and engineering consultancy. Overseeing delivery, commercial performance, teams and client relationships across Canada.
Responsibilities
Lead delivery of major, complex and high-risk projects and portfolios
Provide leadership and technical direction to project teams
Communicate project strategy, client requirements and delivery expectations
Oversee financial, operational and governance frameworks, including forecasting, monitoring, change management and performance reporting
Lead mobilization and management of project resources, suppliers and sub-consultants
Introduce strategies, tools and controls to improve delivery consistency, efficiency and performance
Promote and continuously improve health and safety outcomes
Build and manage relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, clients in the defence sector, government bodies and joint venture partners
Achieve project success criteria across cash flow, margin, quality, schedule and health and safety
Shape pursuit strategies and negotiate contractual arrangements
Ensure strong commercial and contract management with minimal claims exposure
Strengthen client relationships, respond to feedback, identify growth opportunities and support repeat business
Lead and mentor Senior Project Directors and project teams
Coach team members, provide performance feedback and promote collaboration, inclusion and knowledge sharing
Requirements
Relevant engineering, construction, project management or related degree
Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation
Significant experience leading large, high-complexity projects and project portfolios
Proven experience delivering large-scale, complex defence projects for government departments or as a designer/contractor
Strong commercial knowledge, including contract conditions, risk management and project financial controls
Demonstrated ability to deliver full-service, complex projects while ensuring strategic client outcomes
Extensive stakeholder management and client relationship experience
Track record of leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple geographic locations
Demonstrable expertise working collaboratively with technical disciplines and project delivery teams
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Government of Canada security clearance
