About the role

  • Lead Lab and Workshop Technical Lead overseeing operation and strategic development of engineering facilities for advanced concepts team. Enabling innovation through prototyping and testing for mountain athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the operation, evolution, and strategic development of our technical, scientific, and engineering facilities, including our Workshop, Mountain Athlete Lab, and Materials Lab.
  • Partner closely with Advanced Concepts and Product Creation teams to enable rapid prototyping, testing, and experimentation to solve complex performance challenges for mountain athletes.
  • Manage lab and workshop equipment by coordinating selection, procurement, installation, training, calibration, and maintenance.
  • Support Advanced Concepts projects through fabrication, rapid prototyping, machine operation, and test setup.
  • Maintain organized, efficient, and collaborative lab and workshop spaces, with a forward-thinking approach to space utilization.
  • Champion creation and testing capabilities by leading workshops, coordinating equipment training, and onboarding new users.

Requirements

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics) or a relevant science discipline, with 5+ years of hands-on experience in a lab or workshop environment, leading technical workflows or environments
  • You have a strong understanding of how a sports science or testing lab operates and experience working with scientists and engineers
  • You have familiarity with instrumentation and troubleshooting common athlete science and machine shop equipment
  • You have strong hands-on experience with fabrication tools and processes, including CNC milling, 3D printing, and mechanical shop equipment
  • You have experience setting up or supporting prototyping and production facilities
  • You have advanced knowledge of research and engineering software, including CAD, machine operation, and data management tools
  • You take a hands-on approach to your work and are motivated to teach, support, and enable others
  • You are a strong problem solver who identifies root causes and develops practical, effective solutions
  • You are highly adaptable and effective in environments with ambiguity and evolving priorities
  • You are able to prioritize effectively while continuously improving processes and systems
  • You are a creative and adaptable thinker who works well with evolving ideas and concepts
  • You are comfortable balancing autonomy with collaboration
  • You demonstrate sound judgment and consistently pursue the best solutions, even when they are not the easiest path.
