About the role

  • Creative Services director leading production operations for Article, a furniture company redefining the industry. Managing budgets, vendors, workflows, and creative leadership across high-volume deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the business and operations behind Article’s Creative Services function
  • Ensure teams have the resources, processes, budgets, and direction needed to deliver creative work at scale
  • Own planning, resourcing, budgeting, production, and delivery of creative work from intake and briefing through final asset delivery
  • Translate business priorities into production roadmaps, capacity plans, budgets, and priorities
  • Build and monitor performance measures including throughput, capacity, delivery timelines, budget performance, and quality
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and build scalable processes, roles, and ways of working
  • Own operational budgets, forecasting, cost controls, budget variance, vendor spend, and cost-effectiveness initiatives
  • Lead resource and capacity planning across internal teams, external partners, and multiple production streams
  • Manage vendor and production partnerships, including procurement, evaluation, negotiation, scope management, contracts, and performance
  • Bridge Creative Services and the broader business by translating business needs into production plans and communicating timelines, resources, and trade-offs
  • Partner with Marketing, Category Management, Sales, Warehousing, Logistics, and other teams
  • Resolve process breakdowns and priority trade-offs between creative teams and business stakeholders
  • Protect the standards and conditions required for excellent creative work
  • Lead and develop managers across Creative Services
  • Foster accountability, customer obsession, high standards, and operational rigor
  • Report to Dan Mew

Requirements

  • Significant leadership experience in a high-volume creative environment such as an in-house ecommerce or retail studio, large-scale production studio, or agency supporting high-volume ecommerce or retail clients
  • Creative or creative production background with strong understanding of creative workflows, production requirements, and high-quality execution
  • Experience owning large operational budgets, ideally in the multi-million-dollar range, including forecasting, cost management, and financial trade-offs
  • Experience leading complex creative operations with multiple production streams, competing priorities, and high volume of deliverables
  • Strong experience with procurement, vendor management, contract negotiation, and external production partners
  • Ability to translate business goals into practical creative production plans and communicate trade-offs clearly with creative and business stakeholders
  • Ability to set direction and clear guardrails for managers
  • Ability to build operating rhythms and ways of working that create ownership and follow-through
  • Sound decision-making using data, experience, creative context, and business needs
  • Experience developing managers through direct feedback, coaching, and clear expectations
  • Ability to take ownership of outcomes and address challenges constructively
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Completion of criminal background check
  • Proficiency with G Suite and Slack
