About the role

  • Environmental Scientist supporting contaminated-site assessment and remediation for AtkinsRéalis transportation projects. Preparing technical reports, interpreting data, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams across Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, scoping, and design of environmental sampling and investigation programs
  • Identify environmental indicators, contaminants of concern, and potential sampling constraints
  • Assist in developing sampling protocols, including sampling locations, frequency, timing, data collection methodologies, and analytical parameters
  • Ensure site assessments comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Support the development and implementation of corrective or remedial action plans
  • Prepare technical reports meeting regulatory and client requirements
  • Identify potential environmental risks and recommend further investigation, monitoring, or remediation
  • Interpret environmental data and assessment findings to support decision-making and project objectives
  • Communicate assessment results and recommendations to property owners, responsible parties, regulatory agencies, clients, and the public
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver environmental services safely, efficiently, and within schedules and budgets
  • Primarily support major transportation projects across Ontario, with opportunities to contribute across Canada and internationally as needed

Requirements

  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in Ontario is considered an asset
  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental project planning, coordination, and management, with a focus on contaminated site assessment and remediation
  • Experience supporting major infrastructure, rail, and transit projects is considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Regulation 153/04 (as amended) and Ontario Regulation 406/19, including their application to contaminated site assessment and management
  • Strong understanding of, and commitment to, health, safety, and technical protocols and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build collaborative relationships with team members, clients, regulators, and stakeholders across multiple geographic locations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise, and technically sound documentation
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of successfully managing multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
