About the role
- Mechanical Engineer contributing to CANDU nuclear technology, supporting critical systems analysis. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on innovative nuclear projects.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and analysis of critical reactor components, systems, and structures
- Conduct engineering calculations to support nuclear pressure boundary components design
- Prepare formal technical reports
- Review design documents, calculations, and analysis reports
- Execute engineering activities within budget and schedule
- Provide accurate reporting of engineering work to technical and project managers
- Provide prompt engineering resolutions on critical engineering matters
- Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/CANDU Energy Quality Assurance programs, applicable codes, standards, and regulation requirements
- Coordinate and interface with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and other design disciplines or departments
Requirements
- a bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Registered as an Engineer-In-Training or eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
- 3-5 years of related work experience in design and analysis of complex mechanical systems or equipment
- Experience in classical stress calculation
- Experience in finite element analysis using ANSYS/APDL
- Experience with programming languages (Python or MATLAB)
- Familiarity with ASME Section III pressure boundary design and CSA N285.0 is considered an asset
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work under the supervision a senior analyst/engineer/lead and demonstrate problem-solving skills
- Drive for continuous learning by own initiative
- Good time management skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
