Responsibilities
Serve as the technical reference for instrumentation and automation for project teams, clients and other engineering disciplines
Lead the design and preparation of drawings, specifications and technical deliverables related to process instrumentation and control systems
Participate in the design and specification of control panels, control rooms, industrial networks and automation infrastructure
Produce or supervise the production of control schematics, loop diagrams, instrument lists, network architectures and other engineering documents
Ensure the selection and specification of instrumentation, automation and industrial communication equipment
Perform technical reviews of deliverables and ensure compliance with applicable standards, client requirements and industry best practices
Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning phases
Contribute to the design of control architectures (DCS, PLC, SCADA) and the selection of instrumentation equipment
Oversee or perform programming, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and commissioning
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Provide technical mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and contribute to the development of the team’s skills
Participate in design reviews, technical audits and quality assurance activities
Maintain close client relations to support customer satisfaction and business development
Act as the technical lead on large-scale projects, from requirements definition through commissioning
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Automated Production
Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the industrial, food & beverage, pharmaceutical or manufacturing sectors
Significant experience preparing drawings and specifications, detailed design and executing multidisciplinary projects
Experience designing control panels and developing control architectures and industrial networks
Strong knowledge of automation platforms and major industry vendors (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Honeywell, Emerson, etc.)
Knowledge of ISA, IEC and CSA standards as well as machine safety requirements, including CSA Z432, and regulated environments
Excellent communication skills, technical leadership and coordination of multidisciplinary teams
Bilingual (French/English)
Proficiency in English required, as more than 80% of the workload is for clients, partners or projects located outside Quebec
Experience in project management or technical coordination (asset)
Knowledge of MES systems or traceability solutions (asset)
Experience with validated projects and validation constraints (GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11) (asset)
