About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop forest management plans for infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate or conduct forest inventories
  • Perform photo-interpretation of forested areas
  • Develop and implement monitoring programs for forested areas
  • Prepare harvesting and planting plans
  • Prepare permit applications for harvesting or planting projects
  • Draft specifications and tender documents
  • Supervise contractors in the execution of assignments
  • Contribute to forest compensation projects
  • Understand client objectives and applicable regulations
  • Interact with clients and regulatory authorities
  • Participate in environmental impact studies
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in forest management

Requirements

  • University degree in forestry engineering
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs forestiers du Québec (Quebec Order of Forest Engineers)
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in applied forest engineering
  • Experience in forest inventories and photo-interpretation
  • Strong knowledge of technical standards and best practices for harvesting and planting
  • Good knowledge of environmental and forest management standards, regulations, and guidelines
  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to excellence
  • Proficiency in French and English
