About the role

  • Project Manager overseeing engineered tooling design, procurement, testing and readiness for CanAtom’s nuclear projects. Managing schedules, budgets, vendors and OPG stakeholder coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the assigned Engineered Tooling lifecycle to deliver tools on schedule and on budget
  • Execute work with accountability for safety, project management strategies, schedule, cost, manpower and client communications
  • Oversee tooling requirements, concept and detailed design, fabrication, testing and readiness
  • Deliver design, procurement, testing, refurbishment and readiness of assigned engineered tooling
  • Interface with vendors and OPG stakeholders on documentation and tooling delivery
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with CanAtom, clients and vendor partners
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation
  • Ensure work meets quality program requirements and reinforces nuclear safety culture
  • Implement and maintain the tooling readiness process
  • Interface with project controls to update cost and schedule metrics
  • Support the Deputy Project Director, Tooling in executing RFBR Tooling scope
  • Manage tooling resources within a matrix Engineering, Procurement, and Construction organization
  • Maintain fiscal performance of assigned scopes and budgets and develop cost-reduction solutions

Requirements

  • Engineering degree preferred but not required
  • Strong background in retube tooling designs, processes and CANDU fuel channel design
  • Minimum 10 years of nuclear industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience organizing and leading a technical team in a project-centric environment
  • At least 2+ years of engineered tooling understanding and experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with CANDU sites and work processes for performing work in CANDU containment structures strongly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of nuclear project work, project management, estimating and employee relations
  • Ability to handle confidential matters professionally
  • Excellent organizational, communication and customer relationship skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate an issue, its impact, and resolution steps
  • Negotiation and dispute resolution skills
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Must have or be able to hold Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) status
  • Ability to travel as necessary
