Senior Java Software Engineer leading cloud-native software development for Aviso, a Canadian wealth management and investment services provider. Designing scalable architectures, mentoring engineers, and advancing Azure DevOps practices.
Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end development of software modules while ensuring coding standards, architectural principles, and best practices
Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers
Collaborate with product leaders, designers, and internal partners to define and deliver scalable technical solutions
Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable software architectures using modern frameworks and cloud-native technologies
Conduct code reviews, enforce quality standards, and improve development processes
Contribute to long-term technical roadmaps and architectural decisions
Author and maintain system designs, API specifications, and operational procedures
Optimize performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and improve reliability, scalability, and user experience
Champion DevOps practices including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure cloud deployment
Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field combined with 5–10 years of software development experience
Extensive experience with Java is required
Strong grasp of software architecture and design patterns
Proficiency with Git and branching strategies
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps or Jenkins
Familiarity with Azure cloud, APIM, Dapr, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (IaC/Bicep)
Solid database skills in SQL and NoSQL
Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as C# or Python would be an asset
Experience with front-end frameworks and technologies such as React, Angular, Flutter, or Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) would be an asset
Excellent debugging and code review capabilities
Proven leadership and mentoring experience preferred
Fluent English communication skills required
Bilingual French skills are an asset
