Responsibilities
Collect, process and analyze complex geospatial datasets related to insurance activities, and translate them into actionable recommendations to support pricing, underwriting and product strategies.
Create high-quality maps, dashboards and visualizations for business partners.
Support spatial risk assessments, catastrophe modeling and exposure analyses.
Effectively communicate model results and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaborate closely with business and engineering teams to improve geospatial modeling tools and integrate them into operations.
Contribute to innovation and the continuous improvement of geospatial and analytical data usage.
Stay up to date with technological advances and GIS best practices.
Requirements
University degree in geography, geomatics (GIS), data science, mathematics, physics or a related field (Master’s degree considered an asset).
Proficiency in English required, including excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in GIS analysis, including use of QGIS, GeoServer, Postgres/PostGIS, and working with large datasets (industry or academic settings).
Proficiency in Python and strong software engineering practices (modularity, code reuse, documentation).
Excellent analytical skills and a strong interest in geospatial applications for insurance pricing.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
Collaborative mindset, intellectual curiosity and a desire to contribute to a high-performing team.
Knowledge of flood modeling and open-source GIS tools (asset).
Familiarity with cloud platforms and CI/CD tools (asset).
Knowledge of advanced machine learning and optimization techniques (asset).
Experience in the insurance or financial services sector (asset).
