Responsibilities
The Engineering Analyst (Analyst) plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, compliance, and usability of subsurface resource data across reservoir engineering and drilling and production operations.
Working collaboratively with engineering and operational teams, the Analyst coordinates the development of operational reports, enhances data accessibility, and provides industry guidance to permit holders.
The role supports regulatory compliance and continuous improvement by leading data quality initiatives including the automation of processes, and ensuring timely and secure access to critical information for internal and external stakeholders.
The role independently applies engineering principles and analytical techniques to evaluate well construction, intervention, pressure and flow test data, ensuring regulatory data integrity and supporting effective resource management.
The Analyst leads and coordinates the development of administrative compliance audits and serves as a subject matter expert in data governance.
The Analyst supports regulatory enforcement, promotes best practices in data management, and drives continuous improvement in data systems and workflows.
Requirements
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field such as engineering, computer science, or business administration, and four years of related experience; or,
A technical diploma from a recognized technology institute in a related field such as engineering, computer science, or business administration, and five years of related experience; or,
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Demonstrated experience applying reservoir engineering principles and technical analysis to the exploration, development, and regulation of hydrocarbon reservoirs in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, with preference given to experience in British Columbia.
Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying applicable standards, legislation, and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to, the Energy Resource Activities Act and Drilling and Production Regulation.
Demonstrated experience exercising independent technical judgement in the review, validation, and quality assurance of complex operational or engineering data.
Demonstrated experience developing and applying data governance frameworks and principles, quality management practices, and enterprise data standards.
Demonstrated experience leading technical or analytical projects, including the development of detailed project plans, scope, coordination of resources, managing timelines, and successful execution of project deliverables.
Demonstrated experience working in an operational Business Intelligence (BI) setting, including data analysis and reporting, developing BI capabilities, and providing user support.
Demonstrated experience supporting advanced analytics initiatives or collaborating with data science teams.
Demonstrated experience communicating technical requirements to a variety of audiences.
