About the role

  • Intermediate Power Systems Engineer at BESTECH developing engineering deliverables and leading large projects in power systems engineering. Responsible for technical accuracy and guiding junior engineers in compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Independently performing complex calculations, code reviews, drafting designs, and leading large projects
  • Providing final reviews for drawings and design packages from 600V to 230kV voltage levels
  • Developing engineering deliverables and leading site visits and inspections to review engineering systems as required
  • Overseeing the technical accuracy of project components
  • Ensuring compliance with safety protocols
  • Contributing to the development of specialized areas within the company
  • Mentoring and coaching junior staff and supporting the growth of the engineering team

Requirements

  • 7+ years of related low/medium/high voltage power distribution experience is required
  • A degree in electrical engineering is required
  • Registered with PEO, and holds a Professional Engineering License (P.Eng), or equivalent in Canada
  • Substation design experience considered an asset
  • Pole Line design experience considered an asset
  • Familiarity with power systems including power systems studies (load flow and protective device coordination using Easypower, SKM and ETAP)
  • Strong industrial experience, with experience in surface and underground mining
  • Knowledge of mining-related processes a definite asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites applications
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable design practices
  • Valid Drivers License
