About the role

  • Principal Systems Programmer developing scalable C++ systems for Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight. Leading optimization, stability, cross-platform delivery, and technical direction for a live multiplayer game.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, refactor, and optimize scalable C++ systems powering Dead by Daylight, including engine improvements, platform-specific implementations, and developer tools
  • Lead complex technical initiatives and profile, identify, and resolve performance, memory, and stability issues
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs from ongoing feature development
  • Ensure features, improvements, and fixes are delivered consistently across PC and current and previous-generation consoles
  • Collaborate with Technical Directors and cross-disciplinary teams to align technical solutions with the project’s technical vision
  • Mentor programmers, promote programming best practices, and contribute to project-wide technical decisions

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in game development
  • Proven track record designing and delivering high-quality, scalable systems for shipped AA/AAA titles
  • Expert-level proficiency in C++
  • Deep knowledge of software architecture, performance optimization, multithreading, memory management, and debugging
  • 2+ years of recent experience with Unreal Engine
  • Comfort tackling varied technical challenges, leading complex initiatives, and driving programming excellence across multiple systems
  • Ability to mentor programmers, influence technical direction, and work effectively with cross-disciplinary teams
  • Multiplayer/live service game experience is a strong asset
