Business Analyst II translating insurance business needs into IT requirements and solutions. Supporting projects, testing, change management, and process improvement across Canadian offices.
Responsibilities
Act as a primary liaison, interpreter and facilitator among business stakeholders and the IT team
Analyze company and user needs and document business requirements as the basis for systems specifications
Collaborate on large projects and small improvements across business, financial and IT requirements
Analyze business needs to support definition of optimal solutions
Support the project manager in defining scope, delivering key artifacts and providing visibility to stakeholders
Identify current state, impacted groups and changes needed to support desired outcomes
Gather and document business requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops and research
Analyze complex data sources and provide actionable recommendations
Document and evaluate business processes, systems and workflows to identify improvement areas
Translate business needs into technical specifications and user stories
Create BRDs, functional specifications and process flows
Work with project managers, developers, QA testers and other team members throughout project lifecycles
Assist with test plans, quality assurance activities and user acceptance testing
Facilitate communication between business stakeholders and technical teams
Participate in system design discussions and help define solutions
Support implementation and post-deployment activities
Identify business-process impacts for change management and help create guides and visual documentation
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and recommending enhancements
Ensure documentation and processes comply with company standards and policies
Stay informed about relevant technologies and industry trends
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field or any combination of equivalent education and experience
Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience as a Business Analyst
Experience and knowledge in the insurance field is an asset
Ability to work independently and effectively
Proactive, detail-oriented self-starter who takes initiative and can drive projects forward with accuracy and minimal supervision
Excellent relationship-building skills
Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills
Ability to pivot between high-level strategy and day-to-day operational BA tasks
Ability to handle multiple priorities with time-sensitive deadlines
Highly developed problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple sensitive files and initiatives simultaneously
Ability to analyze, evaluate and interpret data to find trends, opportunities, issues and root causes
Ability to identify gaps and evaluate solutions, recommending options with pros and cons
Experience in Functional Analysis and Business Process Review
Advanced skills in MS products, Power BI and other project systems
Proficient in business use case writing
Experience collecting and documenting business requirements
