About the role

  • Engagement and Communications Specialist strengthening participation and messaging for Ontario’s mental health and justice network. Coordinating diverse partners, knowledge exchange, webinars and multi-channel content.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance a comprehensive strategy to improve sector engagement at local, regional and provincial levels within the HSJCC Network
  • Coordinate multi-sectoral and diverse groups on behalf of the HSJCC Secretariat and lead the Provincial HSJCC’s advisory committees
  • Collaborate with Local and Regional HSJCCs, member organizations, partners and people with lived experience
  • Create and execute strategies to share relevant information and ideas and promote the HSJCC Network
  • Lead knowledge exchange activities, including educational webinars, forums and sector meetings
  • Work alongside the communications team to ensure consistent branding and messaging
  • Translate the complex work of the HSJCC Network into accessible analysis and content for internal and external audiences
  • Contribute ideas and content for web, print, multimedia and promotional materials
  • Partner with the HSJCC Network Coordinator, HSJCC Program Manager and Justice Policy Analyst to develop workplan activities and meet key deliverables
  • Attend meetings throughout the workday/workweek and travel as required

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant field, such as health, human services or criminal justice
  • Three to five years of engagement experience
  • Strong ability to facilitate knowledge exchange
  • Experience leading diverse groups
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to execute strategies clearly across formats and audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and networks
  • Experience managing projects and multiple tasks within established timelines in a team environment
  • Familiarity with mental health promotion, health equity and social determinants of health
  • Familiarity with Zoom Webinar and email marketing campaign services such as MailChimp
  • Experience working in multi-sectoral partnerships and liaising with non-governmental organizations and government agencies
  • Working knowledge of the criminal justice sector and intersections between human services and justice systems is an asset
  • Experience with graphic design, web design and social media is an asset
  • Experience working with peer-led groups and people with lived experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with WordPress is an asset
  • Must maintain and submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment
